Meet Indu

DeWitt has been my cherished home for over three decades, and I’ve built a life of service throughout that time.

I arrived here with my husband and our one-year-old daughter after completing my medical residency in New Jersey. Like so many of you, I was immediately drawn in by the promise of raising my family in this wonderful community, replete with green, lush surroundings, great schools, and a close-knit community. I embraced the beautiful whirlwind of motherhood, welcoming my second daughter shortly after we arrived. Now both grown, I cherished cheering them on through their years in the J-D school district (Go Red Rams!).

At the same time, I started my medical practice, and my love for people and community turned those around me into dear friends. Throughout it all, this town has been the backdrop to my life's most precious moments. To this day, it is a place where I don't just reside, but truly belong.

My heart has always called me to serve. It's why I became a doctor, and it’s why I was humbled to serve as Onondaga County's Health Commissioner, especially during the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19, the worst pandemic of our lifetime. It's also why I serve as a volunteer and board member/advisor for various local causes supporting mothers, veterans, unhoused individuals, families seeking better housing, the Indian community, and our libraries. Each step of my journey has been driven by a deep love for this community and a profound desire to give back to the place that has given me so much. Now, I'm eager to bring that same heartfelt commitment to the DeWitt Town Board, to work tirelessly to nurture the vibrant spirit of our town.

I live with my husband and my beautiful dog, who keeps me on my toes. I have two wonderful daughters and a son-in-law. In my spare time, I enjoy long walks with my dog, practicing yoga, and cooking different types of food, especially new recipes my daughters send me.
